The Facts & Figures Of Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant’s Pre Wedding Festivities

4th March 2024

As Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant are due to tie the knot later this year, they kicked off their celebrations with a 3-day pre-wedding extravaganza in Jamnagar, Gujurat.

As the youngest son of the richest man in Asia, Mukesh Ambani, and the daughter of a wealthy pharmaceutical family, Viren Merchant; the families have spared no expense on their wedding festivities.

Here’s everything you need to know, with some facts & figures, about their wedding celebration.

The Ambani family constructed 14 temples in Jamnagar ahead of the wedding

Ahead of their celebrations, the Ambani family, founders of Reliance Foundation, have constructed 14 different temples, with the help of various worshippers and artists to give back to their community. For both families, Jamnagar is a very special place that is close to their hearts; and where Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant ultimately fell in love.

The couple have invited around 1,200 guests to attend

From all around the world, the Ambanis & Merchants have invited around 1,200 guests from different walks of their life, to celebrate the pre-wedding festivities in Gujurat.

From tech empire CEOs like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates to celebrities, artists, socialites and musicians. One of the most unexpected wedding guests appears to be Ivanka Trump.

Reportedly, around 130 flights flew guests in to Jamnagar airport

You read that right; Jamnagar airport saw air traffic of around 130 flights over the weekend to welcome their guests.

It is said that the guests were chartering planes from Mumbai and Delhi to the wedding location throughout Friday morning.

The families hosted a communal dinner for 51,000 residents in Jamnagar

It comes as no surprise that the Ambanis hosted a large dinner for 51,000 residents in Jamnagar; as they often host events where they serve community dinners during auspicious family occasions.

This kicked off their wedding festivities on Thursday night.

Rihanna was reportedly paid £5m to perform

Not only was it her first time performing in India, it was also probably one of the larger private-hosted performances that Rihanna would have done in her career. Loved by many, the singer was reportedly paid £5m to be there – and she may or may not have mispronounced the bride’s name in a little faux pas gone viral.

She performed her greatest hits, including “Umbrella”, “Diamonds” and “Work”.

This comes as no surprise, as previous Ambani weddings have been showered with performances by Beyonce, The Chainsmokers and Adam Levine.

Guests were provided with a nine-page itinerary prior to their attendance

With planning and logistics at the heart of this lavish extravaganza, the Ambanis and Merchants had to ensure their guests were fully prepared.

Each guest was given a nine-page itinerary outlining the festivities, dress codes, expected weather and mood boards to follow – leaving no chance of confusion.

Guests were suggested to limit themselves to as little luggage as possible

For those taking the chartered flights to Jamnagar, the guests were strongly recommended to bring only 1 hand luggage and 1 check-in per person, or 3 suitcases in total as a couple.

Given the nature of the events, we’re surprised to see how the guests actually pulled it off – with the exception of a few, of course.

Guests were served 500 dishes from 100 different chefs

As with any Indian wedding, the food is always a big priority. It’s reported that there was no shortage of any cuisine at the events, as guests were given a range of 500 different dishes, served by 100 different chefs from over the world; over the 3 days.

Their guests literally took a 'Walk on the Wildside'

With the happy couple, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, both being avid animal lovers; their weekend itinerary included a “tusker trails” event. During this, their guests spent the afternoon in an animal sanctuary, holding over 200 elephants & 300 big cats that were rescued.
