A Vibrant Bollywood Extravaganza, Janki & Viresh’s Memorable Day

4th September 2023

Welcome to Real Weddings: where we speak to real couples about their wedding planning process, the lead up to the big day, and any advice they have for couples currently planning their wedding.

Since childhood, we are exposed to Bollywood fairytales: from the outfits, to the dances, to the love stories within them, everything is truly memorable. The wedding of Janki & Viresh is no less: from their love story, to the bollywood-esque proposal, all the way to their themes: they curated a number of fun-filled events & performances which were a dream come true for the bride herself!

Janki & Viresh, much like many other couples, were in the process of a house move alongside their wedding planning. Whilst this could prove slightly tricky when budgeting or making decisions, Janki spoke to us about how she overcame any issues with clarity. Keep reading to see her top tip on balancing funds.

ABOUT THE COUPLE

How would you describe your wedding planning process in a few words?

Colourful, vibrant and all things Bollywood!

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends. We got on really well as friends and after months of avoiding dinner dates I eventually gave in and never looked back! Flash forward 7 years later and here we are married!

How did you / he propose?

Originally he wanted to take me away on holiday but due to COVID he planned a staycation instead. However in typical Bollywood manner I injured myself, got soaked in the rain and we almost missed arriving at our destination! However, it all worked out in the end. We were on a boat ride and just as we approached a bridge (I have a huge thing for bridges) he proposed. I was not expecting it at all and the lead up to it was just so us! It was perfect and something I will cherish for the rest of my life.

What was your favourite part of the wedding planning process?

I love all things personalised so we really enjoyed tailoring the wedding to our personalities. I am a huge Bollywood fan so seeing my Bollywood themed wedding come to life was a dream come true!

What was one thing you wish you did differently during your wedding / planning process?

Organise multiple meetings with your suppliers to ensure they truly understand your vision and non-negotiables.

What was the trickiest part of your wedding planning process?

The budget! Make sure you set realistic goals and be fully aware of where you can cut costs. We bought our first home during wedding planning so I would always compare whether it was justified spending x amount on flowers (for example) vs buying an appliance for our home.

Would you have benefitted from a platform like Eternity UK, whilst planning?

Yes 100%! It is so convenient to have a list of everything you need in one place- I think it saves couples so much time.

Unia Productions: Pratik and his team are simply the best! It is so important to have a photographer you are comfortable with. Our visuals have come out exactly the way we wanted them to.

Dynamic Roadshow: Shiv and his team created an unforgettable night! He helped me create my surprise dance entrance audio and things ran smoothly

Suky MUA: She is so so talented. Very easy to get on with and understood the style and theme I was going for. She ensured I was ready on time and kept me calm throughout the process

Premila Pindolia Mehendi: THE BEST in the business! My Mehendi literally stayed on for weeks!

The Bollywood Co: Being a BollyCo Pro dancer myself, I had to perform with my team on one of the biggest days of my life! They did my sangeet decor as well and it was everything I wanted-colourful, traditional and 100% Bollywood vibes!

Nity’s Delights: I have been using Nity for years. Her cakes taste so good! She is super friendly and so so talented

Soiree 360 Events: Honestly no words for them! They were SO SO sweet and accommodating! So pleased to have found them.

Your piece of advice to brides & grooms?

Enjoy every single moment from the planning to the wedding day. Speak to each other openly about your non-negotiables vs negotiables and always support each other’s decision. Discuss details amongst yourself first before introducing family members and know that in the end it will all work out!

The event

We love the personalisation of this wedding. Nowadays, it’s so easy to fit into the standard mould of how every wedding runs, and often couples can feel like they have little / no control over what they want to do. Janki definitely made sure that there were subtle odes to their relationship & hobbies throughout the events.

Our favourite? We are obsessed with the classic bollywood movie signage throughout! How many movies were you able to spot?

Surrounded by love & dance, Janki & Viresh’s unique & special wedding celebration is definitely one that the couple & their guests will always cherish.
