As wedding season nears this summer, we begin to see glimpses of the upcoming civil wedding trends that you will definitely fall in love with. With Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week back in full swing, we were front & centre observing all the newest trends; that will no doubt make their way around to various cultures to incorporate in their own traditional pieces.
From coloured wedding dresses, to 3-D appliqué, to double silhouettes: there is so much to love about upcoming civil wedding dress fashion.
Have a look at the top 9 civil wedding trends we spotted throughout the week.
In recent years, we witnessed a surge in minimal, sleek & silky wedding dresses; a trend which is definitely slowed down. This season we saw dresses adorned with bold & beautiful dimensional florals from the necklines, the bodices and skirts in all forms.
With the ‘second wedding dress’ trend taking over in recent years, we’ve seen many beautiful & structured short wedding dresses take centre stage.
The minis are definitely here to stay, and aren’t just for engagement shoots anymore. Most of the stunning pieces were definitely inspired by the 60s.
The runway was adorned with beautiful & chunky jewellery pieces – chokers, statement earrings, bold necklaces – we’ve seen it all.
This season is all about varying textures; so we saw jewels paired with silk, lace, velvet & every fabric under the sun.
Fitted bodices & ballgown skirts, as well as, unconfined bodices with structured skirts – say hello to double silhouettes & two pieces this wedding season.
Last year saw a comeback of ballgown civil wedding dress styles; and this year we’re seeing the return of stunning princess sleeves. Whether it’s sheer or satin – we saw an array of them all over the runway.
One of our absolute favourite trend comebacks is seeing the amount of 3D & texture on the runway. More is definitely more when it comes to feathers & tassels over the next wedding season.
Transparent fabrics, such as chiffon, organza, and tulle, have always held a certain allure in the world of bridal fashion. They add a touch of romance and whimsy to any gown, allowing for movement and fluidity that can be absolutely breathtaking – and there was absolutely no shortage of it on the runway.
Definitely not one for the faint-hearted – we saw a beautiful range of colour embedded into the runway this season. From ballgowns to evening chic; or even the option to go for a stunning black wedding dress.
A very Kate Middleton-esque trend that we spotted on the runway was the return of capes on wedding dresses. Paired with a veil, it curates the most beautiful flared silhouette as you walk down the aisle.
