The one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony of Ira Khan, Aamir Khan’s daughter, and Nupur Shikhare took place at the start of this year. In a traditional Maharashtrian wedding ceremony, the couple tied the knot with friends & family in Mumbai; with further festivities taking place in Udaipur this week.

The couple have both grown up surrounded by fame & stardom. Ira is no stranger to the world of Bollywood, with actors like Aamir Khan & Imran Khan in the family; whilst Nupur is personal trainer to the stars, having worked with Aamir Khan, Sushmita Sen & many more.

THEIR LOVE STORY
Reportedly, Ira & Nupur met during Covid-19 lockdown when Nupur used to train Aamir Khan. The two fell in love and Nupur proposed in September 2023, followed by an engagement ceremony in November 2023.

THE MUMBAI WEDDING

The 3-day wedding affair consisted of tons of dance, laughter and celebration amongst Ira & Nupur’s closes friends in Mumbai. It is rumoured that the couples wedding attire prioritised comfort over anything, with many guests, friends & family opting for a relaxed vibe. Unlike many couples who opt for regimented outfits and themes for their bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family; the pair opted for something we’ve never seen before.

Friends & family said the ceremony was full of “fun, games & wonderful singing face-offs between both the families! The evening was all about this wonderful couple’s genuine, fun-loving personalities coming forth, and a lot of fun, games and laughter! It was easy to see, why these two are perfectly made for each other!”

Both Ira & Nupur are creatives in their careers, as well as, in their families; so this came as no surprise to many of us.

THE RUNNING BARAAT

However, something which absolutely no one expected was the gym attire that Nupur opted for during the traditional ceremony. In many pictures, Nupur is seen wearing his gym attire, worn out shoes, and literally running towards his wonderful bride, Ira.

Having taken part in the Ironman Triathlon four times – a series of long-distance races consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bicycle ride and a 25.22 mile run – Nupur chose to incorporate this part of his life onto their wedding day.

Alongside giving an ode to the profession which made him meet Ira in the first place, Nupur lovingly shared that he used to frequently run a similar stretch anytime he would meet Ira when they used to date.

The bride was definitely a fan of this, as she wrote on her Instagram to say “He didn’t come on horse. he ran to the venue. And I placed cuter posters along with way.”

THE OUTFITS

The bride was dressed head to toe in Sereia Design Studio, whilst the groom did also eventually change into a more traditional attire as the songs and games continued throughout the night.

THE GUESTS

All their guests, friends & family were beaming with joy on this occasion; as both parents were also given the spotlight throughout the evening.

Zayn Marie lovingly wrote “SOB – as in Sister of the Bride and ‘I’m going to sob about this for the next ten days’ @khan.ira I still can’t believe it 💘🌸 only yesterday you were so small, and now you’ve married one of my most favourite people on this planet. Aaahhh I’m going to cry just typing this 😭 I love you both so much”.

THE RAJASTHAN CEREMONY

Following in the footsteps of many celebrities, including Sid Malhotra & Kiara Advani, Katrina Kaif & Vicky Kaushal and Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas, this couple are also kicking off their next round of wedding celebrations in Rajasthan.

Starting, of course, with a workout!

Ira Khan & Nupur Shikhare - The Mehndi Ceremony

The events kicked off with a daytime mehndi ceremony, as the couples guests started to arrive to join in the beautiful celebration. As we can see, the bride appears to be opting for full arm mehndi, which is very different from the minimal mehndi trends we have seen on most brides this season.
